Muslims are debating whether or not they should be angry, happy or concerned about this video and the implicaitons of sharing. Does it ridicule Islam? As one sign reads, "Made you look"?
It is okay that Muslims disagree about the halaal or haraam of any modern cultural practices, or artistic expression by non-Muslims or even Muslims. Muslims will never all agree about what is permissible concerning these things. One, because they all have different likes and dislikes, partly due to their environment and upbringing, or because of their level of knowledge or even belief. We are all still Muslims, and we can hope that differences will not be a cause for major problems in our communities; sure there are already such problems, which is unfortunate but we don't have to add to these with violence; we have not seen any extreme reactions to this video, thank God.
There is nothing wrong with debate or disagreements, and even the Muslims of old used to have such normal disagreements, debate and even sometimes fought. But this doesn't take us out of the fold of Islam.
If you are unsure about some issues or have questions about permissible and not permissible, ask a person who knows.
Muslims did not used to disagree about halaal and haraam (permissible and forbidden) of things which are obvious, and which are written in the Quran, e.g. Pork and pork products, alcohol, meat slaughtered in the name of idols, etc.
To have a better idea of what is halaal and haraam we should really ask scholars; even then, we have free will. A non-believer will tell you that the internet is 'haraam' and we should not be on it; someone told me to go clean my house and stay off the internet.
There are good and bad in many things; we have to try to do what benefits us and try to refrain what doesn't benefit us. But Muslims often do not take some of the issues seriously. It is better to acknowledge that some activities are not from our 'culture' or way of life but that we are not perfect and might sometimes do things which are not 'Islamic'. Allah is forgiving , most merciful.
There are also Christians, Jews and others who have similar discussions and it doesn't make them look bad. Yes,we should try to learn the truth of any matter, especially if we have doubts. But no matter what, we are still brothers in Islam.
