In memory of "sensei [Abdul Razak]"

A touching eulogy as well as a brief sketch of one of Malaysias well loved and respected figures.

The website (see link above) does justice to the memory of Japanese language afficianado and educator, Abdul Razak Hamid, whom students endearingly called "Sensei Abdul Razak".

Not only is this an inspiring story of brotherly love and peaceful integration, but it tells of the horrors of the nuclear attack America perpetrated on Nagasaki/Hiroshima to "end the war" (WWII).

A fact hardly known to many ordinary folks is that Japan signed the nuclear non-proliforation treaty of its time, [actually] "three non-nuclear Principles" [it adopted] post-war due to the effects on its own population, and owing to the realization of the devastation such weapons of mass destruction would cause.

KL is in the top twenty for tourism

 

Are the buses clean? Can I use the bathroom?

Yes, Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia is a capital spot for tourism! With so much to offer, who wouldn’t want to visit KL (as Malaysians and visitors lovingly the city). But in a recent post by an online newspaper I read the comments, and began to fear that some things can never be properly maintained by any decent city, state or country, such as public toilets and hotels, or to standards which people prefer when travelling abroad; are we too picky or is there more than fear itself to worry about in these things? I was going to comment (but couldn’t sign in to my id) that ‘My family members and I will soon be trying the inter-state buses; should I be worried? I love it here, for the natural beauty. [But] can there be "too many temples", though?’

Probably ppl’s expectations will vary a good deal, and no one will be completely satisfied with their experience, most of the time. Chances are public utilities like restrooms will never be the best places by which to judge your overall level of happiness with a country or busy metropolis in particular.

I love widgets, but not sure which ones readers would love most. I have some others, like the “LISTS” menu on the right of the blog, which tells visitors which posts are popular. (It is July 18^th, the 8^th day of Ramadhan, Islamic month of fasting.)

This post is not about saving the environment (although it could be that, too) but about my study vacation in Malaysia, in the month of Ramadan,2013.

 This is my first search for photos of the University, I went to this website from the photos of the campus connected to other external sources (not by the USM, but some partner or other entity).

You will see trees in almost every picture, Malaysian being a very tropical country. The University has many bird species because of the natural environment and even the mascot is the red eagle which returned to the area because of the very hospitable habitat that was introduced to the area by the University early in its development. Many species of trees and other foliage or plants and flowers surround the students, staff and faculty or visitors.
