Obama Welcomes Inclusive Bahraini National Dialogue
In Washington City, US President Barack Obama last night (Tues., June 7) welcomed His Majesty King Hamad’s call for a comprehensive national dialogue and hailed lifting of the State of National Safety.
The President expressed his support for the royal’s initiative as he met His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, in the American capital.
“He also expressed strong support for HRH the Crown Prince’s efforts to initiate the national dialogue and said that both the opposition and the government must forge a just future for all Bahrainis,” a White House statement said, as reported by the Gulf Daily news in Bahrain, today.
“To create the conditions for a successful dialogue the President emphasized the importance of following through on the government’s commitment to ensuring that those responsible for human rights abuses will be held accountable,” reports the paper. (Gulf Daily News, Wed., June 8, 2011)
